Lauren is a very kind and compassionate individual. It was great to have her on our team for our pregnancy and birth! She explained things very thoroughly in our prenatal visits and gave us lots of tips and tricks to help through labor. We ordered and used a rebozo based on her guidance and it helped in the final stretch of pregnancy to be more comfortable. I also appreciated the other tools she taught us for early labor. Having Lauren as a birth doula was instrumental in us not only navigating our hospital labor process but also guiding us emotionally before, during, and after. During labor, we felt that she was in it with us through each step, creating space for both the birther and the birth partner to connect, and there for every single turn along the way. She kept the birther well hydrated and fed and helped created a real team with the birth partner to provide physical comfort measures. She's warm, affectionate, responsible, eager, knowledgable, and a true advocate for us during the whole process. I was seeking a kind, healing, spiritual energy to help me with my first labor alongside my husband who is a physician at UCSF. As someone who practices mindfulness, it was important to me to try things like massage, aromatherapy, the tens unit and different laboring positions that would help me remain present during my birth experience. Lauren was able to make that all happen. She also worked with us during several pre and post sessions to help us prepare for and process our birth experience. Lauren took the first photos of me and my little family. She inspired me with little ideas like creating a vision board for my birth that my husband and I went through during my early labor to build my confidence. Lauren was incredible and I would hire her all over again if we have another child as a birth doula. Lauren was patient, kind, caring, and a great listener for both my husband and I. Lauren answered calls and texts from me promptly and was available whenever I needed her help before giving birth, during birth, as well as postpartum. Lauren provided us with helpful resources such as a pelvic floor therapist and postpartum chef ideas. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met, and I a so thankful for her care and guidance throughout such a wonderful yet challenging experience! I was so lucky to have had such a great birth team at Alta Bates but Lauren is just phenomenal. She brought so much calmness, comfort and love to what could have been a chaotic and stressful experience.
