Originally from the UK, I moved to San Francisco last year and combined this move with training to become a postpartum doula. Although my certification is recent, my journey with new families and babies started much earlier.
Since I could barely talk, my attention has been drawn to babies and parenthood. As I grew up, I adored babysitting, and thrived while working in a nursery and infant care centre in a South Korean International School. For college, I studied philosophy & history while participating in a global exchange; moving countries and university campuses every four months. During this whistle-stop tour, I developed a passion for photography and filmmaking, and got to know families around the world through babysitting.
After graduating in Taiwan, I spent a year as a filmmaking & photography teacher in a Taiwanese high school. During that time, I worked as a sitter for several families in the evenings - not for the money, but because it was the most rewarding part of my day! I realised that childhood & family intimacy inspire me creatively and began working on family photography.
So as soon as I heard the words ‘postpartum doula’, I knew this was the career I wanted. I believe postpartum support is crucial to parents and to society as a whole. It is an honor for me to be part of this experience - to be someone for you to lean on, learn from, and know that your baby is in safe hands with while you recover from birth. Over many years of traveling & figuring out the next challenge in front of me, I’ve learned so much about the power of communication, kindness, collaboration, and respect. All of this, I will bring to your home as we learn together how to take care of your baby and their unique needs.
During night work, I’m happy to help with anything to make your load lighter - folding laundry, cleaning bottles, etc. We can work together to find out what you need most.
And finally, I’d love to work with you on newborn/ postpartum photography if that’s something you’re interested in!
