"Mimosa was an invaluable member of our birthing team. She has a warm, soothing nature and is unflappable in the face of stress and change. She got to know my husband and me at a deeply personal level, and in doing so, she was able to fill us with confidence, calm and positivity at every step – and all over the phone from 2,000 miles away. Start to finish, Mimosa’s support made our birth experience one that I would happily repeat and one that I could not imagine doing without her. We had independently explored and reflected on what we wanted our birth to look and feel like, and Mimosa helped us augment and refine that vision. She asked us the questions we didn’t even know we should be asking, leading to a more comprehensive and thoughtful birth plan. In the days leading up to birth, she was a helpful sounding board and vocal cheerleader, affirming our experiences, helping us weigh the interventions offered and providing much needed encouragement. And when we arrived at the hospital and our birth plan needed to be thrown out the window due to unexpected complications, Mimosa helped us manage our emotions, evaluate how to proceed, make well-reasoned decisions, and preserve whatever aspects of our planned birth experience we could. With Mimosa’s careful guidance, I had an unplanned c-section that was every bit as stress-free and lovely as the natural birth I envisioned for us. To say we were lucky to have Mimosa throughout this monumental journey in our lives would be a gross understatement. I would recommend working with her without hesitation or reservation."
"Although we live on opposite coasts, Mimosa was a lifeline for me in those challenging first few weeks after giving birth. She provided an enormous amount of encouragement and support through problems with breastfeeding (including kindness and empathy when I couldn't make it work), struggles with infant sleep, and the surprising isolation and loneliness that can come from suddenly shifting from adult life to full time infant care and postpartum healing, even with a supportive co-parent. I also found the virtual format to be really helpful since so often I didn't have the energy for more than sending a text message, but I could still easily access support. Speaking both from her experience as a doula and as a birthing parent, Mimosa was always there with humor, helpful tips, and loving, nonjudgmental cheerleading."
